Obituaries

Roy Joseph Wittman, of Hanover, passed away at Grey Gables, Markdale on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He was 75. He is now reunited with his son Jamie.

Born in Chepstow on December 25, 1948, to the late Marie Wittman. (Ervin Schlosser)

Many will remember Roy as the kind and generous friend, co-worker and family member that was always willing to help out when needed.  He was a handy man, and could fix almost anything he put his mind to, and was often called upon to fix cars, trucks, and other machines for his many friends.  He was a dedicated and loyal employee, spending over 40 years of his working career as a labourer for Swift's (P&H Foods).  Most of all, Roy loved to have fun and have a good time, and enjoyed a good joke.  He would often attend local country dances at various venues, and enjoyed playing TV bingo and cards, often attending card groups at the Union Hall. He will be missed.

Survived by son Jason Wittman of Walkerton.  Cherished grandpa of Austin, Faith, Roxanne, and Aurora.  Fondly remembered by sister Erlene Witter of Hanover, brother Melvin (Lorraine) Schlosser of Neustadt, brother-in-law Ray Spielmacher, and many nieces, nephews, friends, and their families.  Predeceased by his parents, son Jamie Wittman, sister Audrey Spielmacher, and brother-in-law Jim Greenwood.

Visitation will be held at Mighton Funeral Home, Hanover, on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 6-8 pm, where a funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at 11 am. Father Romalito Guillen officiating. Interment in Hanover Cemetery.
